Presbytery of Greenock and Paisley
Clerk: Rev Dr Peter McEnhill

Mission & Discipleship Comittee

Mission and Discipleship brings together the former National Mission and Congregational Development Committees. It deals with areas intended to aid the development of congregations, covering all aspects of Christian education including Sunday School, youth, adult and elder training. In addition, it may also deal with matters relating to religious education in schools. It deals with matters referred to the Presbytery by the General Assembly’s Mission and Discipleship Council. This committee also oversees the implementation of the church’s policies and practice concerning safeguarding (child protection) and arranges training courses for people working with young people to enable them to obtain the certification which is necessary for development of worship in congregations and, on occasion, Presbytery services. In addition, it deals with the Church’s outreach in various forms locally and nationally, dealing with local initiatives in outreach, and keeping the Presbytery informed of national initiatives which may be relevant to the Presbytery.
